The story of Perlage was born in 1985, when the 7 Nardi brothers, encouraged by their father Tiziano and mother Afra, decided to embark on a journey of discovery in converting to organic agriculture. They started in Soligo, from the historical family’s vineyard Riva Moretta, in the heart of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG Prosecco Superiore area. Today Perlage is one of the main producers of organic wines in Italy, producing among the finest organic Proseccos and Pinot Grigio.
The Organic Philosophy
The work of the organic and biodynamic winegrower is to create a collaborative relationship with the living organisms existing in nature and in the vineyard. To manage the complex balance of the vital energies of plants, microorganisms and insects needed to obtain the best grapes while respecting the environment. A reciprocal “beat” where the organisms listen to themselves, observe and compete, but always in harmony with the circle of life.
Conegliano Valdobbiadene Territory
The area extends through the band of hills of the Province of Treviso in the Veneto Region in northern Italy, and encompasses the area between the towns of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. The steep slopes of the hills make it difficult to mechanize the work, and it is truly thanks to the large peaceful army of men, and the love that they have for their land, that it has been possible to preserve these beautiful hills and to create a strong bond between man and the rural countryside.
Glera and the Vinification
The glera grape is a rustic and vigorous white grape variety with hazel shoots and rather large and long bunches, featured by golden yellow berries. The Charmat method (sparkling winemaking method) enables to get the “Brut, Extra Dry and Dry” versions from this variety, which stands out for its straw-yellow colour, its mild thickness and its fruity and flowery scent. Perlage grapes are grown exclusively using organic and biodynamic viticulture and we produce only Brut and Extra Dry version of Prosecco.Buy Perlage Wines Online
