Another of our series of dinners with Amali:

Monday, April 30, 2012, 6:30 PM

For Your Wines Only: The Viticulture of Vangelis Gerovassiliou
Five Courses, 75 PP (exclusive of tax and gratuity)

Wine & Spirits – Top Newcomer Award 2012:

“the main dining room feels like an upscale bistro in Kolonaki…here they take an American approach to Mediterranean ingredients, creating something that is at once more Greek than any restaurant and less ethnic than any of them. To drink, Amali has culled Greece’s best [ ] rounded with a savy selection of sustainable wines from Europe and America.”

Eater.com:

The addition of Amali’s wine list to [the Upper East Side] is essentially the equivalent of freaking to Burt Bacharach. In other words, it’s bold. Mallios is about a hundred miles from the stereotypical sommelier, particularly one with an interest in natural wine. He’s bald, brash, and tough-a sort of Greek version of Tony Soprano who looks more likely to kneecap you than pour you a glass of assyrtiko.
